Glenyarra is very happy to announce that Miss Daisy has become a Mum today, with the safe arrival of 6 babies; 4 boys and two girls delivered by Caesarian section. A very big thankyou to our team of carers and our professional and skilful vet, Fiona.  Daisy is recovering well and is bonding beautifully with her little ones. Please be patient everyone...as  Daisy and the pups are our first priority it maybe several days before I speak with you all. Thankyou.

The parents of each litter have been hip/elbow scored, have clear eye certificates and a healthy heart certificate, all available for you to view.

Puppies go home with a pedigree certificate, vet health check and proof of vaccination card, a microchip and a puppy information pack that includes; food, diet sheets, weight chart and loads of tips on raising and training a healthy and well adjusted pup.  Free Petplan Health Insurance coverage for six weeks.

Our new babies are one week old today ! This time last week Daisy was having a caesar after failing to go into labour and she had no idea what puppies were. Today, she is an attentive Mum who is very aware of her babies, what they need and when to do it...this is an instinct that occurs at a natural births with hormones and smells...in record time she has accepted her little ones, all while recovering from a major operation. Her appetite is good and she loves her walks outside on a leash at this stage  as she must be prevented from running after our rabbits to keep those stitches intact. Her puppies are really doing beautifully all more than doubling their birth weight. I am so pleased. Daisy even trying to 'mother' Scala's puppies that were born last week a day later. Goldens are just amazing... these two beautiful Mums , who only met each other 2 weeks ago, share the same living room in our house and get along beautifully together. PHEW!

Daisy has 2 Girls: Pink and Yellow and 4 Boys: Orange, Light Green, Dark Blue and Light Blue. There are no creme puppies... all will be golden with different amounts of golden coverage

We welcome all our new families to Glenyarra  and look forward to sharing news and photos each Thursday so that you may all share in the journey of your newest family member. Please enjoy our many moments this week...even the power being out for 48 hrs atm and counting has challenged us to keep the  Mums /pups cool on the gel mats and cool pads... all while watching over them round the clock...with torches for last night!  Please enjoy our photos.

13/01/22

Two weeks old today our little ones have shown a wonderful weight gain this week with the weights ranging being 1.63 kilos to 1.69 kilos... all pups trippling their birth weight. Daisy is doing well and now spends short periods of time outside eating a bone or sitting  outside of the whelping box relaxing on the cool floors in the air conditioning.  Daisy's stitches have been removed and she is raring to run!   (but not allowed just yet ) We had a lovely visit from Daisy's owner Fleur who was delighted to see the babies and spend time with her much loved girl... and Daisy felt the same way, as you can see in the photos.

Puppies' eyes have just started to open and the ears have flopped down and the little ear canal is opening so they will able to hear in the next few days. You will also notice that the puppies' noses and pads are now black...not the little pink ones of birth. Puppies have also started to take weight on their legs and do a wobbly walk to find their Mum when she gets into the whelping box. The pups are unable to control their body temperature so in many of the photos you will see anever in 30 yrs of breeding had such a gel mat /covered ice packs which the pups will crawl onto or off of, if they are uncomfortable... this seems to settle them. If pups are a little cool they will pile on top of each other to sleep...I keep the airconditioner remote in my back pocket as their needs can change quickly!

Please read Scala's update too as there maybe some tips that you may find useful.

Dave and I send our very best wishes for a speedy recovery to our new families who are sick with Covid...  I hope you enjoy this week's photos.

20/01/22

Three weeks old today and our pups are looking like little doggies. Eyes and ears are open and functioning. Puppies have become more mobile and spend a little more time awake after feeding either sitting up and looking around or mouthing each other as their teeth erupt from their gums. Ear color is getting stronger, also on the  back of their legs and tip of their tail...an indication of color in the years to come.

Daisy's babies have absolutely flown in the weight department this week: with 3 pups over 2.1 kilos and 2 pups at 2.2kilos and our Dark Blue boy weighing in at 2.3 kilos. Daisy is a wonderful first time Mum and this is a lovely sized litter for her to experience motherhood. Daisy has also learned from watching/ copying Scala...the two of them inseperable except when their pups need attention or a feed.

I must send apologies  for not doing the face time calls as I said that I would...we have had a tiring week with sick family members and Scala who has also been battling mastitis so I have spent a lot of time on the phone but not with our new puppy families! I will send videos to your phones hopefully in the coming week... if you don't have an Iphone please let me know if your partner has one ...otherwise we will need to set up another form of communication eg. Messenger . Unfortunately the vidoes come through fuzzy on an android phone...this is an important form of communication in the coming weeks so please take the time to set it up so you can start to think about choosing your pup.

Daisy's Open Day is the 5th of February, the pups will be 5 weeks old and they will have had their microchip  inserted and be vet checked.  I will email you your time  and our address in the coming week...please contact me if you have any problems.

Have a great week everyone ...I'm hoping to!... please enjoy this week's photos...thankyou for all the positive feedback ...it is lovely to know that you are reading the website.

Four weeks old today, these little chubbers weigh in at 2.9 kilos to 3.1kilos. They are getting far too big for the whelping box so it is now time to make the big move outside to the puppy house where they will have more space and toys. I start the babies in an inside room that is divided in half by a puppy playpen so the pups feel secure in a smaller space and I increase the size each day while they are getting comfortable with the transition. Daisy will sleep with the pups at night but will be free to come and go throughout the day. As you can see from the photos Daisy is standing now to feed her pups...quite a feat for the little ones! Daisy has started to wean her pups herself so I have in the last few days introduced the puppies to 2 small meals a day of soaked kibble. The pups have coped well with the eating skill instead of sucking reflex needed for food... some slower than others but all successful with plenty of practice coming!

Puppies are moving around the box confidently, climbing on the inside rail and peering over the sides... it won't be long before they are out of the box and in my kitchen. It is definitely time to move outside..I will send out some videos of their move this week.

We had another lovely visit from Fleur, Daisy's owner last weekend and once again I got to witness pure joy and love... thankyou Fleur, for making the long journey here...Daisy is very loved.

On the website this week I have put a picture of a  beautiful white toy that wasn't robust... when you choose your toy to leave with us please make sure the labels have been removed and it doesn't have bows or bells attached... give it a good tug and make sure that the stitching is strong enough to withstand being pulled in different directions by several puppies at the same time. Kong toys of the different varieties are always tough and seem to survive the litter test .

On the Open Day you will be given a promo pack from Black Hawk. Inside there are vouchers for discounted food but as was pointed out today from  one of our new families on their first visit , that it might be a wise idea to order your food now as many companies delivery estimates have blown out. And even some stores are low on stocks. Please buy Black Hawk Chicken and Rice Puppy... it has a picture of a dalmation on the front. It is essential that you continue feeding the same food that puppy has been raised on in the first few weeks in their new home with you.

Emails for the first visit have been sent out...please contact me if you have not received yours or you have a problem with the time slot.

The vet will visit us next Monday and microchip all the puppies and give them a first health check. He will revisit at 6 weeks of age for vaccinations and another health check.

Please refresh your memory by re reading the original puppy notes attached to the original offer email and write down any questions that you may have... it is easy to forget what you wanted to ask when you get here and there are so many cute puppies to play with.

We are happy to hear that all our families that had Covid are all doing well... At this stage our Open Day will go ahead but we really need our families to be  honest and not come if they are supposed to be in isolation or not feeling well. Wearing masks for adults and children will be required and distancing very important.

Please enjoy the photos of our wonderful little beauties.

A late post but our babies have moved out and settled in to their new house...They loved to sleep on the bare concrete as it is so cool... check out the photos

3/02/22

Five weeks old today our little ones have had a big week... a move outside into new surroundings, being microchipped by the vet and progressing onto 3 meals a day throughout the week as we slowly wean them from Daisy who is today down to 2 feeds. Daisy did an 5km walk on the bike track  with us today so she is fit and full of energy and will be ready when the pups are 6 weeks to return home to her family.

Puppy weights are very good this week: YellowF. 3.91 kilos, PinkF is 3.65kilos, Dark BlueM. 4.16 kilos, Light BlueM. 3.9 kilos, GreenM. 4.28kilos, OrangeM 4.18kilos.  Daisy's pups although doing very well have not been ravenously hungry, at this stage.  They eat steadily but are easily distracted... hopefully once  they are not suckling from Mum their appetite  and focus will increase and once they eat veggies and cooked mince they will hoe it down... which is what retrievers are famous for!

The vet was very pleased with the pups' progress and will return late next week to  vaccinate and give out health certificates.

I hope you have enjoyed this week's videos sent to your phones...thankyou to all who respond ...I like to know that your are receiving and enjoying these videos .If you haven't received a video please let me know.

Open Day: Please try and arrive as close to your allotted time as possible... we have a lot to get through in the hour.  The floor of the puppy house is covered in wood chips that stick to everything. Please bring an old, clean pair of socks to put over your feet, NO SHOES will be allowed in with the puppies for fear of exposing them to disease. If you arrive before the previous family has left please stay in your car until they leave.  Please remember to wear a mask.

During your time here you will see Daisy and meet/choose your pup. But, we will also go through all the certificates for Daisy and Zeus: Pedigrees, Hip/ Elbow, Eye and Heart Certificates. After you have choosen /met your newest family member, you wil be asked to fill in details on the Microchip Transfer Form for Central Records and also to complete and sign the Sales Agreement. Please refer back to the original offer email and reread both attachments so you are happy to sign and your memory is refreshed on puppy care tips.

You may also like to bring a USB to leave with me so you can have a copy of all photos taken in the 8 weeks...or if you are tech savvy you can just pinch from the website the ones you want. Puppies and I are very excited to meet you this weekend and especially see what toys you have bought  us to play with.

10/02/22

Six weeks old today and once again a huge week for the little ones The pups had their last feed from Daisy last week and are now settled on the  soaked puppy food with pumpkin pieces added. More veggies and cooked mince will be added over the last 2 weeks. A diet sheet will be emailed to you all and another copy will be in the information folder that you will receive on Pick Up Day: February 24th. Weights this week are great: Yellow female is 4.89 Kilos, Pink Female is 4.65Kilos, Dark Blue male is 5.30 kilos and Light Blue Male is 4.96 kilos, Orange Male is 5.1 kilos with the Light Green Male at 5.23 kilos.

The puppies have been wormed with Millbemax for intestenial worms and have had their nails trimmed again.

Daisy's puppies love their water and I came outside to find a pup sitting in the bowl !  Didn't have my camera so missed that photo. Please make sure that your water bowls cannot be tipped over and that your puppy always has access to clean, cool, fresh water...even if you have more than one bowl around.

The puppies have had their vaccinations and health check and all have been issued with  a  health certificate which will also be included in your information folder.

I have been asked this week  my opinion about Puppy School for 8 to 12 weeks... and my answer is NO. Because the puppies do not have an absolute full cover from deadly diseases  until the 3rd shot at 16 weeks, my recommendation is not to go. Over 34 years of breeding, I have lost 1 puppy to parvo...who went to puppy school...it was a tragic and horrible experience for all concerned and one I do not want to go through again. Please ring me if you are concerned about your puppy's socialization in the early weeks and we might be able to come up with some safer solutions.

Last weekend we met the rest of our new families and our little ones got new toys, families and names! It was great to see old faces and meet new ones. Thankyou for all those well choosen toys ...well done. We have all enjoyed the color that has come into the puppy house

During the week we decided to let all the puppies in together for ease of feeding and cleaning and they have loved it ...I do separate them for the vet visits and weighing and photos but they rejoice at being back together! I have been asked about being able to tell which puppy is whose? Remember  that all the pups were microchiped before you met them...and I have a scanner...but Daisy's pups have a metal ring on their collars and Scala's don't.

This Saturday /Sunday is a big day with most of Scala's new families coming to choose/meet their pup...I cannot take calls then but next week is good.

I am running late today with the post and it is now time to feed the babies ...I will post photos through the evening.

17/02/22

Seven weeks old today! What a journey it has been for these puppies now so grown up and ready to go to their new families for some individual love and attention and training! This morning's video of them all playing together outside with Scala's litter was lovely in that they were all so happy, healthy and playful in the cool of the early morning...one family wrote back  and used the word 'wild'... please remember that your puppy will not have the sibling stimulation that 13 other pups provide! I was very touched when I received a video back from two young children saying "Good Morning" to the puppies.

Daisy has returned home to Fleur, Buddy and the kittens...we thank Fleur for her love and care of Daisy that  has made her into an affectionate and beautiful Mum. Without Fleur's consent none of our new families would be having a new  family member joining them and experiencing the joy of loving a Golden for many years to come. Having a daughter or son of Daisy's is very special indeed. Thankyou Fleur I have loved sharing this special experience with you.

The puppies' weights have continued to increase as has the quantity of food, 3 bowls are now in use for each meal. Cooked pumpkin and carrot, broccolli and cooked mince have all been tried with the pups. Weetbix has also been crumbled onto their breakfast. This week's weights: Smudge is 6.26 kilos, Luna is 5.77 kilos, Hudson is 6.86 kilos, Kevin is 6.61 kilos, Preslie is 6.85kilos and Boss is 6.32kilos. I did email a diet sheet out to everyone

this week please ring me if you didn't receive yours. There will be a copy in your information folder. Please have 2 cups of Kibble soaked before you leave home to pick up your pup... don't forget this gets divided into 3 meals plus one veggie type per meal.

Worming: all puppies were wormed at 6 weeks. In your folder , on Pick Up Day,  you will find a worming tablet with your puppiy's name on the envelope. Please give to your pup the first night with the evening meal. You can break it in half and put it into pumpkin pieces or wrap it in a small amout of raw mince...either way it will just diappear down the hatch. I use Millbemax (pic up on photos)...you can use your own tablet for the next worming due in a couple of weeks. Please do not buy from the supermarket...only buy from a vet. Drontal is another good quality product. Always read the instructions as the weight of the pup decides the dosage. Each product will have a different suggested re worming time span... not necessarily 2 weeks. Millbemax also has a heart worm component which is great as their mother's cover from birth will be waning now.

I had a read of the Royal Canin booklet and am really happy with the advice in it... Of course I wasn't so impressed by the socialization section where they said how important it is between 8 and 16 weeks to go to puppy school and then went into say make sure all the other pups are fully vaccinated...!?

With regards to Ian Dunbar's book. I think he has a lot of really wonderful ideas and it is worth a  as so many other books are... I obviously don't agree with everything and I believe meals are important. It is by researching and experience that we finally settle on a course of action that will work for us.

More articles to email over the weekend that will now  be very relevant to all the new families. Please be excited but not anxious. I will ring everyone with in the first 24 to 48hrs of you leaving us and we can go through any thing that is bothering you or not ... so often I just get to listen to hilarious stories!

You do not have to wait to get my call though.. .please ring me anytime you feel you need too.

I am having interent difficulties atm so some of the photos haven't been posted...they are coming.

There will be one last update to come in the days after the puppies have left us...  please don't forget to look... I will post photos and share stories. Rest up  and enjoy your sleep ins everyone!
