December 6th, 2022

Hello and a warm welcome to all of our new families. It has been lovely to meet you all on Facetime, in the last couple of days, after chatting with you over the last year on the phone.

As you can see from the photos Mango has recovered beautifully from her caesar and has bonded with her puppies...she is very gentle and very attentive to their needs.

Our puppies are 1 week old today and are absolutlety thriving. Weight range at birth was 579grms to 640 grms... quite weighty pups, for newborns.  And today all pups are over a kilo with the range from 1.1 kilos to 1.3 kilos. They are a very quiet and contented litter with little competition for milk and a few spare teats for desert. Puppies at this stage spend their life drinking and sleeping. They cannot see or hear at the moment which is conducive to a good sleep!

All families will have received their information email...please read the puppy notes thoroughly and do not hesitate to call if you have any questions

Enjoy this week's photos of our chubby golden gang.

December 13th, 2022

Our puppies are 2 weeks old today and have again put on a very pleasing amount of weight...the weight range is from1.65 kilos to 2 kilos!...someone has been greedy!  I am very pleased with the progress this week with all pups opening their eyes and they can now all hear. The pups have had their nails trimmed this week and this will be something we will now do weekly. A good idea is to get some nail trimmers from the pet store and either ask me or your vet to demonstrate how and when to trim your golden's nails.

Puppies have had their first worming tablet. I use Millbemax all wormer...you can purchase these tablets online, if you wish to get organised. Your puppy will probably weigh 6 to 8 kilos when you take him/her home. We will worm every 2 weeks until 8 weeks when we will send a tablet home with each family to give at home the first night. If you have other pets at home it might be a good idea to worm them on that day as well... a clean start for everyone.

I did enjoy the Facetimes with all of our families...it was lovely to meet you all ...many for a second or third time!

As you can see from today's video Mango is well and has returned to spending long walks and eating bones outside...she even did some gardening for me.

Apologies to Zoe and Megan who have just told me they have been waiting for today's post ALL DAY...Haha! I love that you have been so keen to see the update. We have been very busy here White Kinging  whelping boxes and washing birthing mats and floors for Lola's delivery next week. I hope to put up the 3 week post ontime next week but maybe otherwise occupied...I will post a message if that happens and catch up when I am able.

December 20th, 2022

Our puppies are three weeks old today! As you can see from the photos the pups have continued to put on weight, even though they are now quite mobile in the whelping box...burning calories with a lot more awake time and exercise. They have increased their strength and balance in walking and feeding as they latch onto Mango whenever she gets into the whelping box, even if her intention was not to feed. The  weight range this week is 2.2kilos to 2.4 kilos, with our male being the heaviest. Mango now spends most of her time outside of the whelping box but close enough to keep an eye on what is happening. Puppies now feed every 2-3 hours round the clock.

As you saw in the videos this week Mango and her pups have left our lounge room and transitioned out to the puppy room in the puppy house. The room has heating and cooling, light, a camera for me to watch over them and a radio... which I'm sure they have all enjoyed. This is a great room to get our little ones accustomed to noises and soon we will introduce our de-sensitising cd, which you will also hear on choosing day and which I am heartily sick of by 8 weeks!

Puppies grow so much and change every week...their eyes get bigger, their head shapes change and highlights of color will appear. Enjoy a quiet minute comparing the changes as you watch the photos scroll through.

It is now 'Dog Heaven' here as we have our 2 old girls Nudge and Kefa, Scala my son's golden while he is on holiday and our 2 beautiful mothers to be Lola and Bonnie. Amazingly they all get along so well together...as is the beautiful golden nature!

Thankyou everyone for the beautiful responses that I receive from you all when I send out the videos...love them. Wishing you all a wonderful and peaceful Christmas shared with family...Christmas was last weekend for us and it was wonderful, now we turn our focus to  assisting the safe arrival of our new babies.

December 27th, 2022

Our pups are 4 weeks old today, and have had a busy week moving out to the puppy house, then out of the whelping box onto soft wood chips. They have played out on the grass area when it was NOT a hot day , which they enjoyed. As you saw from the video the little ones have started to eat soaked kibble from a bowl ...just one meal at this stage slowly increasing the quantity and frequency to 3 meals. Mango has started to wean her pups by standing up to feed and then moving away when she feels comfortable but is not yet completely empty of milk.

Now that the pups have teeth it was time to feed them. And I think you saw the video they did very well with the eating process and not the sucking skill. Puppies have grown considerably, with the range being 2.71kilos to 2.95 kilos...little chubbers! Although it is lovely and picture book  to see little port barrel pups this is not good for the future life of their joints so I will watch carefully monitoring their weight and i will talk with you all about the importance of not having your pup over weight when we meet at the Open weekend.

Once again this week, the pups have had a worming tablet ( 2,4,6,8,weeks) and their nails trimmed. It is lovely to see how after only 2 meals they now wag their tails and come towards me when I am with them.

Mango is doing well and her favourite pastime is sitting and watching my chooks! She has loved the visits and gifts from her wonderful  family. Thankyou for your great Christmas Wishes...we had the lovely gift of new life. It doesn't get better

January 3rd, 2023

Our puppies are 5 weeks old today and are absolutely adorable; soft and fluffy, inquisitive and playful. This has to be my most favourite stage of raising pups. They love cuddles and show the joy of just learning about the world. The pups have loved more space and enjoyed the introduction of a tunnel, toys and a cubby house to call their own. Their tails wag so quickly now, you would think they might fly!  All puppies are over 3 kilos...weight range this week was 3.47 kilos to 3.93 kilos.

Nails have been trimmed again this week as they grow so quickly and don't get worn down as they are not on a hard surface like concrete I have included a photo of some puppy nail clippers and am happy to explain how to use they when we meet. Please purchase some nail clippers...it is uncomfortable and dangerous to themselves and others to let them grow and grow. You can do this as part of your maintenance and then don't hve to go to the vets to have it done. Perhaps do some research on trimming dogs nails...get your little one used to you touching ears, legs, feet and you won't have to declare war when it gets older.

It is now time to organise our OPEN WEEKEND for the 14TH AND 15TH OF JANUARY...it will be so lovely to meet you all. I will call in the next few days to organise times starting with those who waited the longest on the list as you have a higher selection no. We will have about an hour together with the pups ...they do become tired with all the stimulation so please be understanding as their engery comes in waves of sleeping playing eating sleeping.etc. Again hot weather can also affect puppies as it does to us. Look carefully at the videos I send to see just how energetic they do get!

A big thankyou to Mango's family who visited again today and played...socialised our pups. Most of the lovely photos were taken by Alanna and thankyou for the lasagne...it was much appreciated as I have been too tired to cook of recent days and have had to eat my husband's meals...I will really look forward to that lasagne...Haha!

I have had a great question from a family today about Puppy School... I would prefer that you don't attend until your pup has full coverage from completing all three injections...I understand that it is great for their socialisation ...golden retrievers are naturally sociable, boys and girls! There are safe ways to socialize...puppy play dates at your home or someone's house that you trust has had their animals vaccinated, carrying your pup out to hear traffic, motorbikes, machines, let strangers pat and cuddle...as many experiences as you can think of or google. In 37 years I have lost one puppy to parvo at a puppy school and I never want that to happen again..it was one puppy too many. It is your decision to make after doing some research yourself with your vet? I will happily chat with you about this and my opinion of Dog Parks during the open weekend...just ask the question please.

I hoped you enjoyed seeing the video this week as much as I enjoyed taking it... a shame it had to be cut to be sent.

Mango's Babies are 6 weeks old today and boy are they fun! Mango's has not feed her babies for over a week now so our little ones are completely independant. They have continued to have 3 meals a day and shown good weight gain. Red Female  is now 4.8 kilo, Yellow female  is now 4.5 kilos, Light Green is 4.7 kilos and Pink is  4.8 kilo ...while our Boy Freddie has weighed in at 5.18 kilos. He is a hungry boy but very placid!

The photos and videos that you have seen this week really describe their life of eating, sleeping and playing with toys inside or out in their grassy area.

Last night all puppies were seen by the vet and given a Clear Health Certificate. They also received their microchip, and 6 week Vaccination.

We are all looking forward to our Open Weekend this weekend...apparently Saturday is going to be very hot so if the pups don't perform as you expect or as they do on the videos please be understanding. Because of the heat the pups will not be allowed to come out on the grass and play...please bring an old pair of  clean socks to wear into the puppy house...I cannot allow bare feet or shoes into the pups living zone for fear that they can still become ill from parvo or other diseases that you may bring in accidently. You will also be asked to hand sanitise  properly before handling the pups. Please do not come if you are unwell!

I know some families are cleverly saving the videos and taking pictures from the website each week. If you would like your own copy of all the photos taken for the  website and extras please bring a USB to leave with me to load and put in your folder on PickUp Day.

Don't forget your special toy...our puppies cannot wait to meet you all

January 17th, 2023

Mango's pups are 7 weeks old today and I think have grown very well in the last week...the weights are Yellow at 5.62 kilos, Purple at 5.75kilos, Pink at 5.86 kilos, Light green at 5.94 kilos, Red at 6 kilos and Blue at 6.43kilos. It is not a competition for me to get them as fat as I can...as I said on the weekend please don't stack the weight on them so that they look cute and cuddly...their hip and elbow health...their longevity depends on you not over feeding, not over exercising, limiting  access to stairs and not running on polished floorboards...especially in their first year of growth.

What a wonderful Open Weekend we all had ! The puppies and I love their new families and say thankyou for all their new toys!  I was delighted to see old friends and meet our new families. I have totally enjoyed putting up this week's photos and re living the visits... the emotions and the love and tenderness that I watched  throughout the visits was quite moving.  It is truly a special place to be in my gumboots watching parents and their children,  some young adults, meet, greet, choose and bond with their newest family member to be. A big thankyou to everyone who put up with woodchips in their clothes and the cramped conditions when we had to move into the puppy room when the temperature rose, where we had the air conditioning.

We said good bye to Mango on the weekend as she went back to her very supportive and generous family...thankyou for the dinners  for Dave and I and dog treats that you provided. We loved your frequent visits and hope that this was a more rewarding experience than our Covid time

Only 1 week to go until Pickup Day... Please reread the puppy notes. Please make sure you have a bag of the Royal Canin Maxi Puppy... Please have 2 cups of kibble presoaked before you leave home.  I will send out the diet sheet tomorrow by email and you will also have a copy in your pickup day  folder.

Please remember to bring an old towel for the drive home. Remember the earlier that you pick up your puppy the better he/she will settle that night after spending the whole day at his/her new home.  Do not stop on the way home for toileting... puppy should not go on public land until all injections have been had including the side of the road!

This week will be our last email drop. It will contain different articles for you to consider... any feed back or a call to discuss is welcomed.

I have already received lovely comments on this week's photos and I haven't even finished writing the update...thankyou all for your positivity over the last 7 weeks.

January 25th, 2023

Yesterday all Mango's puppies left us for their new homes...what a journey we have had together. Our pups weighed from 6.3 kilos to 7.22 kilos. Again a big thankyou to Alanna, Ian, Lucy and Ryan for all their visits and for the love they have for Mango. It was lovely to see  her so happy and healthy when she visited to say goodbye to her babies before they all left for their new homes.

I look forward to many  photos and shared stories of their progress. Wishing you all the best times ahead.
